How to Draw a Valentine Gnome (Easy Step by Step)
This Valentine gnome is fun because almost all of him is made from simple shapes: an egg for the body, a curvy triangle for the hat, and lots of hearts. His round nose and puffy mustache sit right under the hat, which makes him easy and silly to draw.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The body
Draw the bottom of a big egg shape. Start high on the left, curve down and around, and come back up on the right, making the two sides meet in a small point at the bottom. Leave the top open for now.
Step 3: The tall hat
Start at the top left of the body and sweep a big curved line up to a point, then curl the tip over to the right like a little hook. Bring a wavy line back down to the right side of the body.
Step 4: The hat band
Draw a gently curved line across the bottom of the hat, from the left edge to the right edge. This is where the hat sits on the body.
Step 5: Nose and mustache
Under the hat band, draw a small round nose that hangs from the band like a ball. Below it, draw a wide wavy mustache that looks like two puffy loops joined in the middle.
Step 6: The big heart
In the middle of the tummy, below the mustache, draw a large heart. Start with the little dip at the top, curve out to make two bumps, and come down to a point at the bottom.
Step 7: Little hands
Draw a small circle on each side of the heart, touching the heart's edge. These are the gnome's hands holding the heart.
Step 8: Tiny feet
At the bottom, draw two flat ovals, one on the left and one on the right, tucked just under the body.
Step 9: Hearts on the hat
Draw three small hearts scattered on the hat, each in a different spot. Keep them simple, with nothing inside.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Valentine gnome
- Draw the egg body first with a light line, then fit the hat on top so the two pieces line up.
- The curled tip of the hat is the trickiest part. Draw the long side first, then make a small hook at the top and curve back down.
- For the hearts, start with two little bumps at the top and bring both sides down to one point. Make the big heart first, then the small ones will feel easy.
