How to draw Cupid step by step

How to Draw Cupid · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: Top of the head

Draw a curved line like an upside-down U near the top of your paper. Leave the bottom of the head open for now, because the neck lines will join it later.

  3. Step 3: The tummy

Under the head, draw a tall egg shape that is a little narrower at the top. Start each side just below the open ends of the head and curve down around the bottom.

  4. Step 4: Wings and chin

Draw a curved wing on each side of the head, like a long leaf that sweeps up and out. Add one curved line inside each wing, then join the two wings with a smooth curve under the head for the chin.

  5. Step 5: Diaper and legs

Draw a gently curved line across the lower part of the tummy for a diaper band. Then draw two small U shapes hanging down from the bottom of the egg for legs.

  6. Step 6: Arms and hands

Draw a short curved line out from each side of the tummy, with a little circle at the end of each one for a hand. On the right side, add a tiny stick going down from the hand with a small notch on it.

  7. Step 7: A happy face

Draw two round dots for eyes in the middle of the head. Add a small curved smile below them.

  8. Step 8: The bow

On the left, draw one tall straight line next to the hand. Then draw a curved line that bows out from the top of the straight line, passes through the hand circle, and comes back to the bottom of the straight line.

  9. Step 9: The heart wand

Draw a long straight line going up from the right hand, leaning a little to the right. At the top, draw a small heart.

  10. Step 10: The top curl

Finish with a little curly swirl sticking up from the top of the head, like a tiny question mark.

  11. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Cupid

  • Draw the head and the body first, and leave the bottom of the head open so the wings and chin can join it neatly.
  • Make the two hand circles about the same size. Trace around a coin or a bottle cap if you want them to look neat.
  • The bow is the trickiest part. Draw the straight line first, then curve the other line out from its top, through the hand circle, and back to its bottom.

Cupid is the Roman god of love. The ancient Greeks told stories about a very similar god named Eros.

Questions about drawing Cupid

What shapes do I need to draw Cupid?

You need a circle for the head, an egg shape for the body, two small U shapes for the legs, and two leaf shapes for the wings. The hands are little circles, and the bow is one straight line with one curved line.

How do I make my Cupid look cuter?

Place the eyes in the middle of the head and a little far apart, then add a small smile. Making the head larger than the body also gives Cupid a sweet, baby look.

How do I draw the bow so it looks right?

Start with a tall straight line, then draw a curved line from the top of it to the bottom, bulging out in the middle like a backward letter D. Pass the curve through the left hand circle so Cupid looks like he is holding it.
