How to Draw a Hummingbird (Easy Step by Step)
A hummingbird looks tricky, but this one is built from a few easy shapes: an egg with a round bump for the head, leaf shapes for the wings and tail, and a thin triangle for the beak. The little flower in front of the beak makes the bird look like it is stopping for a snack.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body and head
Draw a big tilted egg shape with the fat end at the bottom right. On the upper left, add a small round bump that blends into the egg for the head.
Step 3: The back wing
Start on top of the body and draw a tall, pointy leaf shape that leans up and a little to the right. Close it where it meets the body.
Step 4: The front wing
Draw a second leaf shape just to the right of the first wing. Start where it touches the body and lean it out toward the upper right.
Step 5: The tail
At the bottom right of the body, draw a long shape that hangs down. Give the bottom end a small notch, like a fish tail.
Step 6: Beak and eye
Draw a long, thin triangle pointing left from the front of the face. Add a short line in the middle of it. Then put a small dot on the head for the eye.
Step 7: The flower petals
Off to the left of the beak, draw a flower outline with five round petals. Make the bumps about the same size.
Step 8: The flower center
Draw a small bumpy shape in the middle of the flower. Add a tiny dot at the top of it.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a hummingbird
- Draw the egg lightly and tilt it, so the bird looks like it is leaning toward the flower.
- Make the two wings lean in different directions, one up and one out to the right. That makes them look like they are moving.
- Keep the beak long and thin, and point it straight at the flower so the bird looks like it is about to drink.
