How to draw a ring-tailed lemur step by step

How to Draw a Ring-Tailed Lemur · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Head and body

Draw a round head at the top. Then keep the line going down past a small pinch at the neck, bulging out into a big egg-shaped body. Leave the bottom open for now.

  2. Step 2: The round ears

Add a small circle on each side of the top of the head. Tuck the bottom of each circle against the head outline.

  3. Step 3: The big eyes

Draw two tall ovals in the middle of the face, side by side with a small gap between them. Lemurs have big eyes, so make them roomy.

  4. Step 4: Pupils, nose and mouth

Put a small dot in the middle of each eye. Below the eyes, draw a short line going down for the nose, and finish it with a tiny curved smile at the bottom.

  5. Step 5: Arms and little hands

Start at each side of the chest and draw a short curved line sweeping down and inward. End each one with a small oval hand held in front of the tummy.

  6. Step 6: The feet

At the bottom of the body, draw two rounded oval feet side by side. Join them with a gently curved line along the bottom of the body to close it.

  7. Step 7: The long tail

Start near the bottom right of the body and draw a long curving line that swings out to the right and then up to a rounded tip. Come back down with a second line beside it, so the two lines make a long tube.

  8. Step 8: Tail rings

Draw curved stripes across the tail from one side to the other, spacing them out evenly. These rings are what make a ring-tailed lemur special.

  9. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a ring-tailed lemur

  • Draw the head and body as one pinched shape: a round head on top, an egg below, and a small dip at the neck. It is easier than drawing two separate pieces.
  • Keep the tail rings evenly spaced. Make a light mark on each side of the tail first, then connect the marks with curved lines.
  • Make the two eyes the same size by drawing the left one first, then matching it on the right with a small gap between them.
