How to Draw a Diamond Ring (Easy Step by Step)
A diamond ring is a fun drawing because it mixes simple shapes into something fancy. You build it from two ovals for the band, a flat-topped trapezoid for the gem, and a few straight and curved lines for the sparkly cuts. Add some twinkling stars and your ring will shine right off the page.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The outer band
Draw a big, wide oval in the lower middle of your page. This is the outside edge of the ring.
Step 3: The inner hole
Draw a smaller oval inside the big one, leaving an even gap all the way around. This is the hole where a finger goes.
Step 4: The top of the diamond
Above the ring, draw a short flat line. Slant two lines down and outward from its ends, then close the bottom with a longer straight line across to make a wide trapezoid.
Step 5: The pointed bottom
Inside the trapezoid, draw two slanted lines from the top edge down so they meet in a point below the bottom line. Add a short straight line from that point down to touch the top of the ring.
Step 6: The lower facets
Draw a gentle curved line from each end of the trapezoid's bottom line down to the point where the lines meet. Together they make a wide, shallow V.
Step 7: The side supports
Draw one short slanting line on the left and one on the right, going from the diamond's lower corners down to the top of the band.
Step 8: The big sparkle
In the top right, draw a star with four points, like a plus sign with curvy sides. Add a tiny diamond shape in the middle.
Step 9: More sparkles
Add a smaller four-pointed sparkle on the left, with a tiny diamond in the middle. Then draw one very small diamond shape lower on the right.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a diamond ring
- Draw the outer oval first, then the inner oval with the same gap on every side. A band that looks thin in one spot is the most common problem.
- Use a ruler or keep your lines light for the diamond's straight sides. Check that the left and right slants look about the same before you go darker.
- Make each sparkle by drawing a plus sign first, then curve the sides inward between the points. A tiny diamond in the middle finishes it.

How to color your diamond ring drawing
Try light blue and pale purple for the diamond, with gold or silver for the band. For a creative twist, color each section of the gem a different rainbow color so it looks like it is throwing light.
Diamond ring fun fact for kids
Diamonds are the hardest natural material on Earth, so a diamond can scratch almost anything else. They are made of carbon, the same element found in pencil lead.
Questions about drawing a diamond ring
What shapes do I need to draw a diamond ring?
You need two ovals for the band and a trapezoid for the top of the gem. A few straight and curved lines make the cuts and sides of the gem, and the sparkles are four-pointed stars.
How do I make my diamond look shiny?
Add a few sparkle stars around it and draw the lines inside the gem from the top toward the point. Leaving some parts of the gem white when you color makes it look like it is catching the light.
How do I draw the ring so the oval looks even?
Start with a light oval for the outside, then draw the inner oval inside it before going over the lines. Turning your paper as you draw can help the curve feel smooth.
