How to draw a watch step by step

How to Draw a Watch · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The watch case

Draw a big circle in the middle of your page. This round case is the heart of the watch, so make it nice and big.

  3. Step 3: The clock face

Draw a smaller circle inside the big one, leaving a thin gap all the way around. This is the face where the time shows.

  4. Step 4: The top strap

From the top of the big circle, draw two long, almost straight lines going up, leaning a tiny bit toward each other. These are the sides of the upper strap.

  5. Step 5: The buckle

At the top of the strap, draw a wide rounded rectangle lying on its side. Then draw a short line down the middle of it that pokes out below the bottom edge, like the tongue of a buckle.

  6. Step 6: The bottom strap

Under the big circle, start at each side and draw two lines going down. Join them at the bottom with a gentle, rounded curve, like a smile.

  7. Step 7: Hands, marks and details

Draw two short lines that meet in the middle of the face and point up and out, like a V, for the clock hands. Add four small dashes at the top, bottom, left and right inside the face, three dots down the lower strap, and a little rounded square on the right side of the case for the crown.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a watch

  • Draw the big circle lightly first. If it comes out a bit wobbly, trace over it a second time to smooth it out.
  • Keep the two top strap lines about the same length and slant. Looking at the left line while you draw the right one helps them match.
  • Draw the two clock hands so they meet in the middle of the face, then put the four little dashes at the top, bottom, left and right so the face feels balanced.

Watch fun fact for kids

The first wristwatches were made for women in the 1800s. Soldiers started wearing them widely around World War I, because glancing at your wrist was faster than digging a pocket watch out of your coat.
