Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw the top and sides of a big round head. Start at the lower left, curve up and over the top, and stop at the lower right, leaving the chin open for now.
Step 3: Swim mask
Across the middle of the head, draw a wide straight line for the top of the mask. Under it draw the bottom edge with a little bump in the middle for the nose, and add a short strap piece on the left side. Draw two short lines, one above the other, out to the left of the head.
Step 4: Eyes and smile
Inside the mask, draw a small dot for each eye, one on each side of the nose bump. Draw a small curved smile below the mask, then add a short curve on each side of the chin.
Step 5: The snorkel
On the left side of the head, draw a tall skinny rounded tube like a long pill. It sits right around the two short lines you drew earlier.
Step 6: Neck and shirt
Draw a gently curved line under the chin for the neck. Below it, draw the bottom of the shirt as a slightly curved line, with a short straight line going up on the right side.
Step 7: Arms and hands
On the left, draw a rounded sausage shape hanging down for the arm. On the right, draw another sausage tilted up toward the face, and color in a small hand at its top.
Step 8: The star
Next to the raised hand, draw a small star with five pointy tips. Add one tiny dot in its middle.
Step 9: Trunk stripes
Near the bottom of the body, draw two straight lines across, one just above the other. These make the stripe on the swim trunks.
Step 10: Legs and flippers
Under the body, draw two short straight lines for legs. At the bottom of each, draw a wide flat oval for a flipper, then add two little slanted lines inside each one.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with a snorkel
- Draw the mask as a wide band across the head first, then add the bottom edge with the nose bump. Go slowly on the bump so it stays small and neat.
- Make the snorkel tube tall and skinny with fully round ends. Drawing it with a steady hand, or tracing a coin at the top and bottom, helps the ends look round.
- Tilt the raised arm up toward the face and then add the small hand at the top. Starting with a slanted sausage shape makes the wave look natural.

A snorkel is a tube that lets you breathe air while your face is in the water, so you can look at fish below the surface without lifting your head.
