Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 3 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head and arm line
Draw a big round oval in the middle of your page for the head, a little wider than it is tall. Then start at the right side of the head and draw one long slanted line going up, leaning a little toward the middle, for the top of an arm.
Step 3: Glasses and left arm
Draw two rounded squares side by side on the face, with a short line joining them across the nose. Add a tiny line from the left square out to the edge of the head, and a small curved shine mark in the left lens.
Step 4: Smile and shine
Under the glasses, draw a small curved smile like a little bowl. Add a short shine mark in the right lens, and a tiny line from the right square out to the edge of the head.
Step 5: The shirt
Under the chin, draw a short shirt shaped like a box with soft sides. Add a straight line across near the bottom for a belt or hem.
Step 6: Arms up high
Start at each side of the shirt and draw a line that goes out and up in a bend at the elbow, ending at the side of the head. Then draw one long slanted line from the left side of the head going up, to match the arm on the right.
Step 7: The beach ball
Above the head, draw a big circle between the tops of the two arms. Let the arms reach up to the lower sides of the ball, like the kid is holding it.
Step 8: Ball stripes
Inside the ball, draw two curved lines from the top to the bottom, bulging out in the middle like a lemon shape. Add one line across the middle, and two short slanted lines under the ball for the hands.
Step 9: Legs and shoes
At the bottom of the shirt, draw two very short legs. Under each leg, draw a small oval for a shoe, with a little curved line inside.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.
