How to Draw a Bed (Easy Step by Step)
A bed is a cozy first drawing because it is built from rounded rectangles and a few curved lines. You start with the tall headboard, add a puffy pillow, then draw the mattress sides, the blanket folds, the frame and two little legs. Every part is something a child already knows from their own bedroom.

Step 1: The headboard
Draw a big tall shape like a rectangle with rounded top corners. Start at the bottom left, go up, across the top and down the right side. Leave the bottom open for now.
Step 2: The pillow
Inside the headboard, near the bottom, draw a wide rounded rectangle that looks like a puffy roll. Add a short curved line inside it near the top to show the pillow bends.
Step 3: The mattress sides
On each side of the pillow, draw a short flat line going outward toward the bottom of the headboard. Then, from the end of each flat line, draw a slanted line that slopes outward and down, like a wide skirt.
Step 4: The blanket folds
Draw two long, gently curved lines across the mattress from one slanted side to the other, one just below the other. They should sag a little in the middle like a smile.
Step 5: The bed frame
Under the mattress, draw a wide rounded rectangle for the frame. Make it a little wider than the mattress, with a straight top edge and curved corners.
Step 6: The two legs
Under each end of the frame, draw a small U shape that hangs down from the frame. Make both legs the same height so your bed stands steady.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a bed
- Draw the headboard first and keep the sides straight. Use the edge of a book to practice if the lines wobble.
- The two blanket curves are the trickiest part. Make them gently curved and about the same shape, so they look like folds.
- Draw the frame a little wider than the mattress, then add both legs last. Check that the legs match in height before you finish.

How to color your bed drawing
Try a blue headboard, a white pillow and a red or yellow blanket with a brown wooden frame. You could also color the blanket with stripes or dots.
Bed fun fact for kids
Long ago, people in ancient Egypt slept with their heads on curved headrests made of wood or stone instead of soft pillows.
