How to draw a curling player step by step

How to Draw a Curling Player · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round head

Draw a big circle for the head. Leave a little gap at the top where the hat will go.

  3. Step 3: Hat band and pom-pom

Draw a small circle on top of the head for the pom-pom. Then draw two curvy lines across the head, one above the other, to make the hat band.

  4. Step 4: Face and body

Draw two dot eyes and a little smile on the face. Under the head, draw a long curved line for the body that sweeps down and to the right, then add a small hook shape for each hand.

  5. Step 5: The sweeping arm

On the left, draw a long bent oval, like a sausage, that starts at the shoulder and joins the hand circle.

  6. Step 6: The reaching arm

Draw a long, skinny oval from the other shoulder stretching down and to the right until it reaches the hand.

  7. Step 7: Bent legs

Draw a wide curved oval for the bent thigh. Add two slanting lines on the left for the leg stretched out behind, and draw an arch on the right for the front leg with a small rounded shoe.

  8. Step 8: The broom handle

Start at the left hand and draw a straight slanting line down toward the ice. At the bottom, add three short upright lines for the bristles.

  9. Step 9: Broom, stone and ice

Draw a small box shape around the bristles to finish the broom. Then draw a flat dome for the curling stone with a curved line across its middle. Finish with a long straight line along the bottom for the ice.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a curling player

  • Start the head as a light circle, then draw the hat band lines so they curve the same way as the head.
  • The bent leg and the long back leg are the trickiest part. Draw the thigh as a wide oval first, then add the long leg beside it.
  • Keep the stone low and flat like a squashed dome, with a curved line across its middle, so it looks heavy and smooth.

How to color your curling player drawing

Try a bright red hat with a white pom-pom and a blue jacket, with pale blue ice under the player. For a twist, give the stone a rainbow stripe or draw a whole team on the same ice.

Curling player fun fact for kids

Curling is sometimes called "the roaring game" because of the rumbling sound the heavy stones make as they travel over the ice.

Questions about drawing a curling player

What shapes do I need to draw a curling player?

You need circles for the head, pom-pom and hands, ovals for the arms and thigh, and a flat dome for the stone. A few straight lines make the broom and the ice.

How do I make my curling player look like they are moving?

Lean the body to the side and stretch one leg far behind. Slanted arms and a broom tilted toward the ice make the player look like they are gliding.
