How to draw fireworks step by step

How to Draw Fireworks · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Big burst petals

Near the top middle of your paper, draw five teardrop shapes in a ring, with their pointy ends aiming at the center. Put two at the top, one on each side, and one at the bottom.

  2. Step 2: Big burst rays

Draw five short straight lines that shoot outward between the petals. Make one go straight up, and slant the other four out toward the corners.

  3. Step 3: Left burst petals

Down on the left, draw a smaller ring of four teardrops, like a little flower. Keep them smaller than the big burst so it looks farther away.

  4. Step 4: Left burst rays

Add four short straight lines between the left petals, all pointing away from the middle of the burst.

  5. Step 5: Right burst petals

On the right side, draw another ring of four small teardrops. Tilt them a little differently from the left burst so the two bursts are not exact twins.

  6. Step 6: Right burst rays

Fill the gaps between the right petals with four short straight lines that point outward.

  7. Step 7: Rocket trails

Under each burst, draw a gently curved line going down, like the trail a firework leaves as it flies up. Make the middle one a little longer than the two on the sides.

  8. Step 8: Little diamond sparkles

Draw four small diamonds in the empty spaces: one in each top corner and two near the lower burst edges. Give each diamond four pointy corners.

  9. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing fireworks

  • Teardrops are the trickiest part. Draw a round bottom first, then pinch the other end into a point, and keep the pointy ends facing the middle of the burst.
  • Draw the rays after the petals so you can fit them in the gaps. Try to make them about the same length so the burst looks even.
  • Draw the small diamonds last. Start with four dots in a diamond pattern, then connect them with straight lines.

How to color your fireworks drawing

Try bright yellow, orange and red for the petals, with a dark blue or purple night sky behind them. For a creative twist, use a different color for every petal so each burst looks like a rainbow.

Fireworks fun fact for kids

Fireworks were invented in China more than a thousand years ago, and many of the colors you see come from different metals mixed into the powder. Copper-based mixes burn blue, and strontium makes red.

Questions about drawing fireworks

What shapes do I need to draw fireworks?

You need teardrops, short straight lines, long curved lines and small diamonds. Once you can draw those four shapes, you can draw the whole picture.

How do I make my fireworks look like they are exploding?

Make all the petals and rays point away from one center spot, and leave the middle empty. That gap makes the burst look like it is shooting outward.

How do I make my fireworks drawing look more exciting?

Add more small diamonds and draw bursts in different sizes. Big ones look close and small ones look far away.
