How to draw a diya lamp step by step

How to Draw a Diya Lamp · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The bowl

Draw a big curve like a smile, or half of a circle, with both ends pointing up. Make it wide and round at the bottom.

  2. Step 2: The top edge

Connect the two tips of the bowl with a gently curved line across the top. Let the right end curve up into a little point, like the spout of the lamp.

  3. Step 3: The flame

In the middle of the top edge, draw a tall teardrop with the point at the top. Let the bottom of the teardrop narrow down and touch the top edge of the bowl.

  4. Step 4: The inner flame

Inside the big flame, draw a smaller teardrop. It should look like a little flame nested inside a bigger one.

  5. Step 5: Glow lines

Draw a short slanted line up and to the left of the flame, and another up and to the right. Then add a short flat line on each side of the flame.

  6. Step 6: The wavy line

Under the top edge, draw one wavy line made of lots of tiny up-and-down waves, like a ribbon going across the bowl.

  7. Step 7: The dots

Near the bottom of the bowl, draw a row of small round dots, spaced evenly apart.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a diya lamp

  • Start the flame teardrop at the point, then draw down each side so both sides match. The inner flame is a smaller copy of the same shape.
  • For the wavy line, make small, even waves and keep your hand moving smoothly. Draw the dots last and keep them the same size.
