How to draw a cozy sweater step by step

How to Draw a Cozy Sweater · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The sweater body

Start with a big letter U shape in the middle of your page: two straight sides going down and a flat line across the bottom. Leave the top wide open.

  2. Step 2: The collar

Near the top of the page, above the U, draw a wide oval for the collar. Draw a smaller oval inside it for the neck hole.

  3. Step 3: The sleeves

From each side of the collar, draw a big curved line that swoops down and out like a rainbow. At the end of each curve, draw a short slanted line back in toward the top of the body to close the sleeve.

  4. Step 4: The sleeve cuffs

At the end of each sleeve, draw a few short slanted lines side by side for the cuff. Make them run across the sleeve end, like stripes.

  5. Step 5: The bottom band

Draw a straight line across the body, close to the bottom, to make a stretchy band. Add straight lines going down from it to the bottom edge, evenly spaced like fence posts.

  6. Step 6: The leaf pattern

In the middle of the sweater, draw a leaf shape with pointy, rounded bumps all around, like a maple leaf. Finish with a straight line down the middle for the leaf stem.

  7. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cozy sweater

  • Draw the U-shaped body first and make it a little wider than you think. The sleeves need room to attach on both sides.
  • The leaf is the trickiest part. Draw a light star shape first with five points, then round off the points into bumps.
  • For the stripes on the cuffs and bottom band, draw the first and last line, then add the ones in between so they stay evenly spaced.

Questions about drawing a cozy sweater

What shapes do I need to draw a sweater?

You need a U shape for the body, two ovals for the collar, and curved lines for the sleeves. Add straight lines for the stripes and a leaf shape for the pattern.

How do I make my sweater look cozy?

Add stripes on the cuffs and the bottom band, and a fun pattern in the middle. A thick, round collar also makes it look soft and warm.

Can I draw a different pattern on the front?

Yes. Try a heart, a snowflake, or a star instead of the leaf. Draw it in the middle of the body so it looks balanced.
