Step 1: The tall walls
Draw two tall straight lines for the sides of the house. Connect them along the bottom with a flat line, so it looks like a tall box with no top.
Step 2: The roof
On top of the walls, draw a wide flat line along the bottom of the roof that sticks out a little on each side. Then draw two slanted lines going up and join them with a shorter flat line across the top, like a triangle with the tip cut off.
Step 3: The chimney
Draw a small square on top of the roof, near the right side. Let its bottom touch the roof line.
Step 4: Top windows
Draw two small squares side by side near the top of the wall, just under the roof. Keep them the same size and leave a gap in between.
Step 5: Middle windows
Draw two more squares right under the first two, lined up in neat columns. Now you have four windows.
Step 6: The front door
Near the bottom left, draw a tall door with a round, curved top like a rainbow. Start at the bottom of the wall, go up and around the curve, then come back down. Add a tiny dot for the doorknob.
Step 7: The steps
At the bottom of the door, draw two short flat lines stacked like stairs. The wider one sits at the bottom, on the ground line.
Step 8: The flower box
Near the bottom right, draw a small square window. Then draw a short bowl-shaped box across the bottom of the window.
Step 9: The flowers
Draw a little row of bumpy loops along the top of the flower box, so the flowers poke out.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a townhouse
- Draw the two tall walls first and keep them straight up and down. Use the edge of a book as a guide if your lines wobble.
- Line up the windows by drawing the left pair in a column and the right pair in a column. Check that the top and bottom windows sit right above each other.
- The flower box is the trickiest part. Draw the small square window first, then add the bowl shape across its bottom, and finish with bumpy loops for the flowers.

How to color your townhouse drawing
Try brick red or soft blue for the walls, a dark gray roof, and a bright door. For a creative twist, color each townhouse a different shade and draw more houses beside it to make a whole street.
Townhouse fun fact for kids
Townhouses are homes built right next to each other and sharing side walls, which is why many of them look tall and skinny. You can see long rows of them in cities like Amsterdam, London, and Boston.
