A Victorian house is fun to draw because it looks fancy but is built from simple shapes. You start with a flat base and two lines for a tower, then add a pointy roof, a porch, a round-top door, and windows. The tall pointy tower makes it feel like a storybook home.

How to draw a Victorian house step by step

How to Draw a Victorian House · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The base

Draw a long, flat rectangle with rounded corners near the bottom of your page. This is the floor the whole house stands on.

  2. Step 2: Tower sides

Draw two upright lines side by side, with a gap between them. Add a small slanted flap at the bottom of the left line, and a little curl at the bottom of the right line.

  3. Step 3: The pointy tower roof

On top of the two lines, draw a tall triangle with a gently curved bottom edge that sticks out a little on both sides. Finish with a tiny straight line poking up from the tip.

  4. Step 4: House walls and roof peak

Draw a tall line down from the left side of the tower to the base. Then, to the right of the tower, draw a pointed roof peak, like an upside-down V, with a straight wall going down from its right side to the base. Add a short flat line where the peak meets the tower.

  5. Step 5: Roof edge and chimney

Trace a second line just outside the roof peak to make a thick roof edge. Then draw a small tall rectangle for a chimney poking up on the right side of the roof.

  6. Step 6: The porch roof

Under the tower, draw a wide, flat shape like a tilted tray, wider at the bottom than the top. Its right end touches the house wall.

  7. Step 7: Porch posts and door

Draw thin straight posts under the porch roof, a few on the left and a few on the right, down to the floor. In the middle, draw a tall door with a round top, like a tunnel.

  8. Step 8: Windows

Draw a small window in the tower and two bigger windows on the main wall, one above the other. Each one is a shape with a flat bottom and a round top.

  9. Step 9: Window bars and step

Divide each big window with a straight line across and one line going up into the round top. Finish with a little flat rectangle on the base for a step.

  10. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Victorian house

  • Draw the two tower lines straight up with a light pencil first, so the pointy roof sits evenly on top.
  • The round-top windows are the trickiest part. Make the bottom flat and the top a smooth curve, like a tunnel.
  • Keep the porch posts the same height by drawing the porch roof first, then running each post down to the floor.
