How to Draw a Cafe (Easy Step by Step)
A cafe is a fun drawing because it is built from simple shapes: rectangles for the walls, window, and door, and a row of little curves for the awning. The coffee cup on the roof shows what kind of shop this is. Once you can draw it, you can add your own signs and tables.

Step 1: Roof and awning top
Draw a long, flat rectangle for the roof sign board. Right under it, draw a thin wide bar that sticks out past the roof on both sides, with the ends curling down and in.
Step 2: Walls and ground
From each end of the awning bar, draw a straight line down for the walls. Finish with a long line across the bottom for the sidewalk, with round ends that stick out past the walls.
Step 3: Scalloped awning
Along the bottom of the awning, draw a row of little curved smiles that touch each other. Draw a straight line up from every point where two smiles meet. Then add a small open box on top of the roof and a short curved mark above it for the cup stand.
Step 4: The coffee cup
On top of the stand, draw a cup that is wider at the top than the bottom, like an upside-down trapezoid with a rounded bottom. Add a curly handle on the right side.
Step 5: The big window
On the left side of the wall, draw a wide rectangle with rounded corners. Then draw one straight line down the middle to split it into two windows.
Step 6: The door
On the right, draw a tall rectangle that starts at the sidewalk and has rounded top corners. Add a small round dot on the left side for the doorknob.
Step 7: Table and chairs
Near the bottom left, draw a short flat line with a straight line under it for a little table. Add a chair on each side: a tall line for the back and a small square seat at the bottom.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cafe
- Draw the scalloped awning with the smiles all the same size. Mark the points where they meet first, then draw a curve between each pair.
- The cup is the trickiest part. Make the top wider than the bottom, then add the handle last so it does not get squished.
- Use a ruler or the edge of a book for the long walls and the ground line, and draw the door and window with rounded corners by hand.

How to color your cafe drawing
Try red and white stripes on the awning, a brown door, and a light blue window. For a creative twist, color the cup bright pink.
Cafe fun fact for kids
The word cafe comes from the French word for coffee. Many cafes have awnings that give shade to people sitting outside and keep rain off the tables.
