Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Face and front leg
Start at the top of the face and curve down and around for the nose, then tuck in to make a little chin. Draw a straight line down from the chin for the neck, and finish with a small curved loop at the bottom for the front leg.
Step 3: Back and belly
Draw a long curved line starting above the head, sloping down the neck and along the back to the right. Then draw a long bumpy line low down underneath for the tummy and the tucked-up legs.
Step 4: Two hooves
Color in a small solid hoof at the left end of the bottom line. Add another solid hoof at the right end of the bottom line.
Step 5: The wavy mane
Start at the top of the neck and draw a wavy line that bumps in and out like a ribbon. Let it end where it meets the back line.
Step 6: The swishy tail
At the end of the back, draw a curvy leaf shape that flicks up and out. Then draw a line from the tail down the rump to the back hoof.
Step 7: Horn, ear and face
On top of the head, draw a tall skinny cone for the horn with a few little swirl lines, and add a small loop of hair and a pointed ear beside it. Then fill in a big round dot for the eye, add a tiny dot for the nostril, and draw a short smile.
Step 8: The rainbow
Under the hooves, draw a big upside-down U that starts and ends below the unicorn. Add two smaller curved lines inside it, and close the bottom of each band with short flat lines.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a jumping unicorn
- Take your time with the first step. A smooth curve for the nose and a small chin make the face look friendly.
- The mane is the trickiest part. Make it a lazy wave and keep the bumps about the same size.
- For the rainbow, draw the biggest arch first, then fit each smaller arch inside it, leaving the same gap each time.
