Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and ears
Start with a big wide oval for the head, a little flatter on the bottom. Then add two pointy triangle ears on top, one on each side, with their bottoms joining the head.
Step 3: Inner ears
Inside each ear, draw a smaller triangle that follows the shape of the big one. Leave a little space between the two lines.
Step 4: Face and body sides
Add two round dots for eyes and a tiny nose with a little curvy smile under it. Draw three short whiskers on each cheek. Then draw a line down from each side of the head for the body, and join them with a small curve at the bottom.
Step 5: The paws
Near the top of the body, draw a small rounded paw on each side. Then draw a curved line from each paw down the outside of the body to make the arms.
Step 6: The envelope
Between the paws, draw a straight line across for the top of the envelope. Under it, draw a V shape for the flap, with both ends touching the paws.
Step 7: The heart
Draw a small heart in the middle of the envelope, just under the point of the V. Start with two little bumps on top and bring them down to a point.
Step 8: The feet
At the bottom, draw two flat ovals for the feet, one on each side. Join them with a straight line across the bottom of the body.
Step 9: The curly tail
Start the tail at the right side of the feet and draw a long curved line out and up. Finish with a little curl at the end.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Valentine kitten
- Draw the head oval first and make it wide. The kitten looks cutest when the head is bigger than the body.
- Keep the three whiskers on each side roughly the same length, so both cheeks match.
- The paws and envelope touch each other, so draw the paws first and let the envelope lines stop where they meet the paws.

Valentine kitten fun fact for kids
Cats use their whiskers to feel the world around them. Whiskers help a cat tell whether it can fit through a narrow space.
