How to Draw a Kitten (Easy Step by Step)
A kitten is a great first animal to draw because it is built from only a few simple shapes. You need an oval for the head, two triangles for the ears, two curved lines for the body, and a few small shapes for the paws and tail. The two dot eyes and tiny smile make it look sweet with very little work.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The head
Start with a big wide oval for the kitten's head. Make it a little wider than it is tall, like an egg lying on its side.
Step 3: Body side lines
Under the head, draw two curved lines for the sides of the body. Start each one just below the head and curve it down and a little outward, leaving the bottom open.
Step 4: The pointy ears
On top of the head, draw two tall triangles with the points up. Start each one where the head curves and bring the lines to a sharp tip.
Step 5: Inside the ears
Draw a small curved line inside each ear, like a little tent. Keep it a little away from the outer ear.
Step 6: Front paws
At the bottom of the body, draw two small ovals side by side so they touch in the middle. They close the bottom of the body and look like two little feet.
Step 7: The curly tail
Start at the right side of the body and draw a curve that swings out and around, then comes back to touch the paws. It looks like a big letter C.
Step 8: Eyes and mouth
Draw two round dots for eyes, with space between them. Then draw a tiny short line down from the middle, with a small curve on each side of it to make a happy mouth.
Step 9: Whiskers
Draw three short straight lines on each side of the face, spreading out like a little fan. Keep them the same on both sides.
Step 10: Forehead stripes
Draw three short lines on top of the head, between the ears. Make the middle one straight and tilt the outside two a little.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kitten
- Draw the head oval first and make it wide. A wide head is what makes the kitten look cute and small.
- The ears can be tricky. Start each one at the head and aim for a sharp point, then add the small curved line inside afterward.
- Draw the two paws touching in the middle, and let the tail curl round to meet them so the kitten looks like it is sitting.
