How to Draw a Corgi (Easy Step by Step)
Corgis are fun to draw because they have huge pointy ears, a short body, and tiny legs. You can build this one from just a few simple shapes: a rounded face, two tall ears, a long body with a round bottom, and little U-shaped legs. It looks silly and sweet at the same time, and it works well for first-time artists.

Step 1: Face outline
Start at the left, near the top of the head, and curve down into a round cup shape for the cheeks and chin. Bring the line up the other side. Leave the top open for the ears.
Step 2: The big ears
Draw two tall pointy ears on top of the head, each one starting at a side of the face. Join them in the middle with a small dip between the ears.
Step 3: Back and rump
Start at the side of the neck and draw a long curved line over the back to a bumpy round bottom. Curve it back under the rump and stop at the back leg, which is already drawn.
Step 4: Front leg
Draw one long, slightly slanted line down from under the chin. End it with a small rounded U for the paw.
Step 5: Eyes and nose
Add two round dots for eyes in the lower part of the face. Then draw a small oval nose between and below them, with a tiny stem pointing down.
Step 6: Face stripe and smile
Draw a tall, narrow upside-down V that starts at the nose and points up between the eyes. Then add a little wavy smile under the nose.
Step 7: Inside the ears
Draw one short curved line inside each ear. Make each one bend the same way as the outer edge of that ear.
Step 8: Hip curve
Draw a curved hill shape on the round back end of the body. It shows the corgi's fluffy hip.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a corgi
- Draw the two ears the same height. Make a light dot at each ear tip first, then connect them to the head.
- The legs are the trickiest part. Keep each one short, with a rounded U at the bottom for the paw.
- Draw the bumpy back end slowly with small curvy lines, like a cloud. It does not need to be perfect to look fluffy.

How to color your corgi drawing

Corgi fun fact for kids
Corgis were bred in Wales to help herd cattle. Their short legs helped them dart in, nip at the cows' heels, and duck under any kicks.
Questions about drawing a corgi
What shapes do I need to draw a corgi?
You need a rounded cup shape for the face, two tall pointy ears, a long curved line for the back and round bottom, and small U shapes for the paws. Dots work for the eyes and a small oval for the nose.
How do I make my corgi look cuter?
Make the ears extra big and put the eyes low on the face, wide apart. A little smile under the nose helps too.
Why does a corgi have such short legs?
Corgis are born with short legs, and it helped them herd cattle. In your drawing, keep the legs short and chunky so the body looks long.
