How to draw an astronaut cat step by step

How to Draw an Astronaut Cat · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The space helmet

Draw a big circle near the top of the page for the glass helmet. Leave plenty of room below it for the body.

  3. Step 3: The body

Start at the bottom of the helmet on each side and draw two curved lines going down, a little wider at the bottom. Close the shape with a flat line across the bottom.

  4. Step 4: Face and left ear

Inside the helmet, start near the middle top and draw the left side of a wide, squished oval for the cat's face. Add a pointy triangle ear on the top left, and stop before you reach the right side.

  5. Step 5: Right ear and squiggle

Finish the right side of the face with a pointy triangle ear that matches the first one. Then draw a small wavy squiggle in the sky, up and to the right of the helmet.

  6. Step 6: Arms and boots

Draw a round, mitten-like arm sticking out from each side of the body, curling down at the end. Then add two small boots at the bottom, each one a short tube with a little foot bent out at the end.

  7. Step 7: Face details

Add two little dots for eyes, then a tiny wavy smile under them. Finish with one short whisker line on each side of the face.

  8. Step 8: Tail and chest panel

Draw a short curvy tail that starts at the lower right side of the body and curls at the end. Then draw a small rounded rectangle on the tummy with two tiny dots inside.

  9. Step 9: Planet and stars

Up in the sky, draw a small circle and finish the ring around it so the ring crosses the circle. Then add three small stars, each one a diamond, in different sizes around the cat.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an astronaut cat

  • Draw the helmet circle first and keep it light. Then fit the cat face inside so the ears do not touch the glass.
  • The ears are the trickiest part. Make two pointy triangles that are about the same size, one on each side of the top of the face.
  • For the planet, draw the round ball and the ring so the ring crosses the ball. Make the three stars different sizes so the sky looks interesting.

The first cat to travel into space was a French cat named Félicette, launched in October 1963. She flew above the atmosphere in a rocket and came back safely.

Questions about drawing an astronaut cat

What shapes do I need to draw an astronaut cat?

You need a big circle for the helmet, a squished oval for the face, two triangles for the ears, and a rounded shape for the body. The arms, boots, and tail are simple curved lines.

How do I make my astronaut cat look cuter?

Keep the eyes as small dots and the smile tiny. Round, mitten-like arms and chunky boots also make the cat look extra cuddly.

How do I draw a space helmet that looks see-through?

Draw the helmet circle first, then draw the cat's face inside it. Because the face lines are drawn within the circle, it looks like the cat is behind glass.
