Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big head
Draw a big round circle near the top left of your page, but stop and leave a small gap at the bottom where the neck will go.
Step 3: Body bottom and a bone end
Below the head, draw a wide U shape for the bottom of the body. Then, off to the right, draw a tiny squiggly rectangle for the end of a drumstick bone.
Step 4: Sides of the body
Draw two straight lines going down from the gap under the head to the ends of the U shape. Now the body is a tall open box.
Step 5: Two round shoes
Under the body, draw two small ovals side by side so they touch in the middle, like a sideways number eight.
Step 6: Arm and hand
From the right side of the body, draw a curved line reaching out for the arm. End it with a small U shape for the hand.
Step 7: The serving platter
Draw a long, flat oval to the right of the hand, with its left end resting just above the hand. Make it wide like a big plate.
Step 8: Shoulders and turkey top
Draw a flat line across the top of the body with a short line down at each end for the shoulders. Then draw a curved arch above the platter for the top of the turkey, and a second little bone end beside the first one.
Step 9: Face and finishing details
Add two dots for eyes and a curvy smile on the head. Then draw the apron with two straps, the other arm and hand, two short legs, the drumstick frills and the sides of the turkey, and three wavy steam lines.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with a roast turkey
- Draw the head circle first and keep it big. It sets the size of everything else, so the body and shoes will fit below it.
- The platter is the trickiest part. Draw it as a long, flat oval, wider than the turkey, so there is room for the turkey to sit on top.
- Draw the steam last as wavy lines. If they wobble, that is perfect, because steam is wiggly.
