Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big curve shaped like a bowl for the bottom of the head. Start high on the left, curve down and around, and end high on the right, leaving the top open for the hat.
Step 3: The cowboy hat
Draw a long, flat oval across the top of the head for the brim. Then add a rounded dome on top with a gentle dip in the middle, and a curved band around the bottom of the dome.
Step 4: Eyes and mustache
Add two small round dots for eyes, side by side in the middle of the face. Under them, draw a short, thick bar for the mustache.
Step 5: The body
Under the chin, draw two short lines going straight down, one on each side, for the sides of the body. Leave a gap between them.
Step 6: Arms
Draw a thin, tall oval hanging down beside each side of the body, like a leaf. Let each one touch the body line near its lower end.
Step 7: Smile, vest and badge
Draw a small smile curve under the mustache. Then draw short slanted lines at the neck for the vest, a tiny star for the badge on the chest, and a bumpy band across the waist with a few short lines hanging below it.
Step 8: Strap and belt
Draw a long slanted line across the chest for the strap, with a second line beside it. Then draw a wide, slightly curved band across the waist for the belt.
Step 9: Boots
At the bottom of the body, draw two wide, flat ovals side by side for the boots. Add a tiny bump on the outside of each boot.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a sheriff
- Draw the head as a bowl shape and leave the top open. The wide hat brim will cover the top, so you do not need to erase anything.
- The mustache is a short, thick bar. Draw it slowly in one stroke, right under the two eye dots.
- Make the two arm ovals match by drawing them at the same height and about the same size, one on each side of the body.
