How to Draw a Tram (Easy Step by Step)
A tram is a great first vehicle to draw because it is made almost entirely of rounded rectangles and straight lines. You will build the body, add a row of windows and two doors, then finish with wheels and a wire overhead. It is a calm, tidy drawing that looks impressive once all the windows line up.

Step 1: The tram body
Draw a big wide shape like a loaf of bread: a flat bottom, straight sides, and a top with rounded corners. Leave room above for a wire and below for wheels.
Step 2: The bottom stripe
Draw one long straight line across the lower part of the tram, just above the bottom edge. It makes a skinny stripe along the bottom.
Step 3: Wire and pole
Draw a long straight line across the top of your page for the wire. Then draw a short wiggly pole that goes from the middle of the wire down to the roof of the tram.
Step 4: Front and back windows
Draw a small rounded rectangle window at each end of the tram, tucked just inside the corners. Make them tall with soft round corners.
Step 5: Middle windows
Draw three more rounded rectangle windows between the end windows: one next to the left end window, and two close together in the middle. Leave a gap beside the first one and between the pairs for the doors.
Step 6: The two doors
Draw two tall skinny rounded rectangles in the gaps between the windows, reaching down a bit lower than the windows. Add two straight lines inside each one to make the door panels.
Step 7: The headlight
Draw a small filled dot near the right end of the tram, low on the body above the stripe. This is the light.
Step 8: Wheels and track
Draw four little half circles hanging below the tram, two near each end. Then draw a long straight line under them at the bottom of the page for the track.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a tram
- Draw the windows lightly first so you can check they are the same height before pressing hard.
- Leave a gap in the row of windows for each door. Make the tall outer rectangle first, then add the two inside lines so they stay straight and parallel.
- Draw the wheels as half circles tucked under the bottom edge. Keep the pairs matching so the tram looks balanced.

How to color your tram drawing
Try a bright red or yellow body with light blue windows and gray wheels. For a creative twist, color each door a different shade or add passengers waving from the windows.
Tram fun fact for kids
Many trams get their power from a wire above the street. A pole or frame on the roof touches the wire and carries electricity down to the motor.
