How to Draw a Speedboat (Easy Step by Step)

A speedboat is a fun drawing because it is mostly long, smooth curves and a few simple shapes. You will build it from a bowl-shaped hull, a tilted windshield, a rounded seat and a tall motor. Add a wiggly wave line and a little curl of water, and your boat is ready to zoom.

How to draw a speedboat step by step

How to Draw a Speedboat · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The hull

Draw a long curved line like a smooth bowl. Start at the left with a short upward hook, run along the bottom, then swoop up high on the right side. Leave the top open for now.

  2. Step 2: Top edge and lower line

Draw a long straight line across the top of the boat, from the left side to the high point on the right. Then draw a second long line just below it that curves up to meet the first line at the right end.

  3. Step 3: The windshield

Near the middle of the boat, draw a slanted shape like a tilted rectangle leaning to the right. Its bottom ends rest on the top edge.

  4. Step 4: The seat

To the left of the windshield, draw a short rounded shape like an upside-down U. Its two sides stand on the top edge.

  5. Step 5: Motor top and post

At the left end of the boat, draw a tall rounded shape like a thumb standing up. Then draw one straight line going down from its left side.

  6. Step 6: Post and propeller

Draw a second straight line going down from the motor top, next to the first, to finish the post. At the bottom, add a flat oval for the propeller.

  7. Step 7: Water waves

Under the boat, draw a long wiggly line with soft bumps, like a gentle snake, to show the water.

  8. Step 8: The splash curl

To the left of the propeller, draw a small curly C shape to show a swirl of water.

  9. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a speedboat

  • Draw the hull's long bottom curve in one slow, steady motion, and let it swoop up on the right. If it wobbles, that is fine, it just looks like the water is bumpy.
  • The two long lines along the boat should meet at the same point at the right end. Look for that spot before you draw them so they join neatly.
  • For the wave line, make every bump about the same size. Try moving your hand up and down like a tiny roller coaster as you draw.

How to color your speedboat drawing

Try a bright red or blue hull, with a lighter color between the two long lines for a stripe. Color the windshield light blue and the water a darker blue.

Speedboat fun fact for kids

Speedboats can skim across the water because the front lifts up as they go fast, so less of the hull touches the water and there is less drag.

Questions about drawing a speedboat

What shapes do I need to draw a speedboat?

You need a long bowl shape for the hull, a tilted rectangle for the windshield, an upside-down U for the seat, a tall rounded shape for the motor, and a long wiggly line for the water.

How do I make my speedboat look like it is going fast?

Let the hull swoop up high at the front, and keep the water line wavy. The little curl of water by the propeller helps show it is moving.

How do I draw the water around the boat?

Draw one long, wavy line under the hull with bumps of the same size. Start it near the propeller and carry it along under the boat.
