How to draw a houseboat step by step

How to Draw a Houseboat · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: Hull top and sides

Draw a long, gently curved line for the top edge of the boat, with the ends turning up a little. From each end, draw a curved line sweeping down and inward, but stop before they meet.

  3. Step 3: The stripe

Draw one long, gently curved line just below the top edge, going from one side of the hull to the other. It follows the same curve as the top edge.

  4. Step 4: The cabin

On top of the hull, draw a rounded box with a flat top and slightly slanted sides. Start both sides right at the top edge of the hull.

  5. Step 5: The chimney

Draw a short, wide rectangle with rounded corners sitting on top of the cabin roof. Leave the bottom open, since the roof line closes it.

  6. Step 6: The flag

Draw a tall straight pole going up from the cabin roof, to the right of the chimney. At the top, draw a small wavy flag that points to the right.

  7. Step 7: The round windows

Draw three circles in a row inside the cabin. Make them the same size and space them evenly.

  8. Step 8: The waves

Draw a long wavy line under the boat, going up and down like a gentle snake. Let it touch the bottom ends of the hull.

  9. Step 9: Splash dots

Add two small dots on the left side of the waves and one small dot on the right side. Make them different sizes.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a houseboat

  • Draw the hull first and keep its top edge long and gently curved. Everything else sits on that line, so it helps the whole boat look steady.
  • Try to make the three windows the same size and evenly spaced. Draw the middle one first, then add one on each side.
  • Let the wavy line touch the bottom ends of the hull. That makes the boat look like it is floating in the water.
