Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a round circle for the duck's head, but stop before you close it. Leave a small gap at the bottom so the neck can join the body later.
Step 3: The body
Start at the bottom left of the head and sweep a big curve down and around to make a round tummy. Keep going to the right and curve the line up the back edge, stopping near the top right.
Step 4: The back and tail
Start at the bottom right of the head and draw a long, gentle wave that dips down and then swoops up. Finish at the top of the body line to make a pointy tail tip.
Step 5: The beak
On the left side of the head, draw a long, flat oval for the beak so it touches the head. Add a curved line through the middle for the mouth.
Step 6: The eye
Draw a tiny circle for the eye on the head, just above and to the right of the beak.
Step 7: The wing
Draw a smile-shaped curve in the middle of the body. It starts on the left, dips low, and curves back up on the right.
Step 8: Bubbles
Float three bubbles above the back and tail. Draw one medium circle, one smaller circle, and one tiny circle, each in a different spot.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a rubber duck
- Leave a small gap at the bottom of the head circle, so the body line can start right from that spot.
- Draw the beak as a long, flat oval that touches the head, then add the mouth line through the middle.
- Make the three bubbles different sizes and spread them out. If they are all the same size, the drawing looks stiff.

How to color your rubber duck drawing
Color the duck bright yellow with an orange beak, and make the bubbles light blue. For a fun twist, give your duck a tiny pirate hat or a rainbow of bubbles.
Rubber duck fun fact for kids
Rubber ducks float because they are hollow and filled with air, so they weigh less than the water they push aside. In 1992, a ship lost a container of bath toys in the Pacific Ocean, and the toys drifted across the sea for years.
