Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big oval in the middle of the page for the head. Make it a little wider than it is tall, and close it up at the bottom for the chin.
Step 3: Face
Add two small dots for eyes, halfway down the head. Then draw a happy curved smile below them, like a little bowl.
Step 4: The dress body
Under the chin, draw a short rectangle with straight sides. Make the bottom edge a gentle curve.
Step 5: Arms out wide
Draw two long, skinny rectangles that stick out from the top of the body, one on each side. Tilt them slightly downward and round off the end next to the body.
Step 6: Hands at the ends
At the far end of each arm, draw a short curved line across the arm to close it off. Add a tiny curve just past it so each hand looks ready to grip the rope.
Step 7: The jump rope
Start at one hand and draw one big arch up and over the head, all the way down to the other hand. Keep it wide so the head fits under it.
Step 8: Hair bobbles
Draw a small circle on each side of the head, right on the rope arch above the ears. Each one looks like a hair tie.
Step 9: Legs and shoes
Draw two short legs coming down from the bottom of the dress. Add a flat oval shoe at the end of each leg, then two little lines below the shoes to show the jump.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid jumping rope
- Draw the head oval first and leave room around it. The rope arch needs to fit over the top of the head.
- Make the two arms about the same length and tilt them the same amount, so the kid looks balanced.
- Add the two tiny lines under the shoes last. They help show that the kid is in the air.
