Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a big wide oval in the middle of the page, a little like an egg lying on its side. Leave plenty of room below it for the body.
Step 3: The top tuft
On top of the head, draw a small upside-down U for a tuft of hair. Start and end it right on the top of the oval.
Step 4: A short hooked line
Below the left side of the head, draw a short line that goes straight down and curls a little to the left at the bottom, like the letter J. This will become the edge of the arm.
Step 5: Two round eyes
Inside the head, draw two circles side by side at the same height. Make them about the same size, with a small gap between them.
Step 6: The two shoes
Below the head, draw two flat ovals side by side so they touch in the middle, like a sideways number 8. These are the shoes.
Step 7: The waving arm
On the right side, below the head, draw a long, thin leaf shape pointing up and out, like a raised arm. Finish the top end with a small circle for the hand.
Step 8: Waving lines
Next to the hand, draw two curved lines side by side, like brackets. They show the kid is waving hello.
Step 9: Shirt and book arm
Between the head and the shoes, draw a rounded box for the shirt, with its top just under the head. On the left side, add a rounded bump that joins the J line to make the other arm.
Step 10: Glasses and small details
Add a short line across each side of the head and a short bridge between the two circles to make glasses. Put a dot in each circle for the eyes, then draw a small smile, a bow tie at the top of the shirt, a line down the middle with three dots for buttons, a small book on the left, and two short legs above the shoes.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with glasses
- Draw the head oval first and make it nice and big. The eyes and glasses fit inside it, so a roomy head makes everything easier.
- Make the two eye circles about the same size. Draw the first one, then look at it as you draw the second so they match.
- The shirt and the arm with the book are the trickiest part. Take it slowly and draw the box first, then add the rounded bump on the left.
