How to Draw a Robot (Easy Step by Step)
A robot is a fun first drawing because it is built almost entirely from rectangles, circles, and straight lines. You can make it happy, silly, or sleepy just by changing the smile. Once you have the head and body, the rest is easy to add.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a wide rounded rectangle near the top of your page, like a squishy rectangle with soft corners. Make it wider than it is tall.
Step 3: The body
Under the head, leave a small gap and draw another rounded rectangle. Make it a little narrower than the head.
Step 4: Antenna and ears
Draw a short straight line up from the middle of the top of the head and put a small circle on its tip. Then add a small rounded box on each side of the head for the ears.
Step 5: Face and neck
Draw two big circles side by side in the middle of the head and add a small dot inside each one. Draw a gentle curved smile below and between the eyes, then add two short straight lines in the gap to join the head and body as the neck.
Step 6: Arms and hands
Start at the side of the body and draw a curved line that bends down, like a bent noodle. At the bottom of each arm, draw a little open circle shaped like a hook for a claw.
Step 7: Legs and feet
Draw two short straight lines down from the bottom of the body. Finish each one with a flat oval for a foot.
Step 8: The chest screen
In the middle of the body, draw a smaller rounded rectangle for a screen. Inside it, draw a flat line with one zigzag bump in the middle, like a heartbeat.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a robot
- Draw the head and body as rounded rectangles with soft corners instead of sharp ones. If the corners come out pointy, just round them over with your pencil.
- Place the two eyes at the same height, about halfway down the head, so the face looks friendly. Draw one circle, then match it with the other.
- The arms are the trickiest part. Start each arm at the side of the body, curve it down, and then add the claw at the end, so the lines meet without gaps.

How to color your robot drawing
Try a silver and blue robot, with a bright color for the screen and the antenna ball. For a creative twist, give your robot rainbow stripes or color the screen like a favorite video game.
Robot fun fact for kids
The word robot comes from the Czech word robota, which means hard work or forced labor. It was first used for machines in the 1920 play R.U.R. by Karel Capek.
Questions about drawing a robot

You need rounded rectangles for the head, body, ears, feet, and screen, plus circles for the eyes and the antenna ball. Add a few straight lines for the legs, neck, and antenna, and curved lines for the arms and smile.
How do I make my robot look cuter?
Draw big round eyes with small dots inside, and add a small curved smile. A tiny antenna ball on top and short, round feet also make it look friendly.
