How to Draw a Crown (Easy Step by Step)
A crown is a great first drawing because it is built from simple pieces: a rounded rectangle, a zigzag line, and lots of circles. The pointy zigzag makes it look fancy, and the round jewels make it look royal. Once you can draw this one, you can add your own gems and make it yours.

Step 1: The crown band
Draw a long rectangle with rounded corners near the bottom of your paper. This is the band that goes around the head.
Step 2: The side walls
Start at each top corner of the band and draw a line going straight up. Make both lines the same height.
Step 3: The left zigzag
From the top of the left wall, draw a line down to a low point, then up to a peak. Go down to another low point, then up to a taller peak that sits in the middle of the crown.
Step 4: The right zigzag
From the tall middle peak, draw a line down to a low point, then up to a peak. Go down again and then up to finish at the top of the right wall.
Step 5: Two first jewels
Draw a small circle floating just above the tall middle peak. Draw another small circle sitting on top of the left wall.
Step 6: More jewels
Draw a small circle on each of the two inner peaks and one on top of the right wall. Then add a tiny stem between the middle circle and its peak.
Step 7: The band jewels
Draw three circles in a row inside the band. Make the one in the middle the biggest, with a smaller one on each side.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a crown
- Draw the band first so you know how wide the crown will be. Then the walls and the zigzag have a clear place to start and stop.
- The zigzag is the trickiest part. Make a light dot where each peak and each low point goes, then connect the dots with straight lines.
- Draw the jewel circles last. In the band, make the middle circle a bit bigger than the other two. If a circle looks wobbly, that is fine, because real gems are not all the same.

How to color your crown drawing
Try golden yellow for the band and zigzag, with red, blue, and green jewels. For a creative twist, color each jewel a different color, or add sparkles and stripes on the band.
Crown fun fact for kids
The word crown comes from the Latin word corona, which means wreath. The first crowns were often made from leaves and flowers.
Questions about drawing a crown
What shapes do I need to draw a crown?
You need a rounded rectangle for the band, a zigzag line for the points, and circles for the jewels. That is all you need.
How do I make my crown look fancier?
Add more circles or tiny diamonds along the band. You can also draw little shine lines next to the gems so they look like they sparkle.
How do I make the points of my crown even?
Mark light dots for the peaks at the same height, with a taller dot in the middle. Then mark the low points halfway between them and join the dots with straight lines.
