How to Draw a Piano (Easy Step by Step)
A piano is a great drawing to try because it is made almost entirely of rectangles and straight lines. You will draw a big rounded box, a tall stand, a row of keys, two sturdy legs, and a little stool for the piano player. Add a pair of music notes and it looks ready for a song.

Step 1: The piano body
Draw a wide rectangle with big rounded corners. This is the main box of the piano, so make it the widest part of your page.
Step 2: The music stand
On top of the body, draw a tall rectangle with rounded top corners. Its two sides should come down and touch the top of the piano body.
Step 3: The keyboard frame
Inside the piano body, draw a long, thinner rounded rectangle. Leave a little space between it and the body on every side.
Step 4: The piano keys
Draw tall skinny U shapes hanging down from the top of the keyboard for the black keys, in groups of two and three. Add a long line down from the bottom of each U, and a straight line for the key at the right end.
Step 5: The piano legs
Under the piano body, draw two tall, narrow U shapes, one near each end. Start each one at the bottom edge of the body and let it round off at the bottom.
Step 6: The music notes
On the music stand, draw a wide bracket shape like a flat-topped bridge. At the bottom of each side, add a small tilted oval for the note head.
Step 7: The stool seat
Off to the right of the piano, draw a short, wide rounded rectangle for the stool seat.
Step 8: The stool legs
Draw two long, slightly slanted lines going down from the ends of the seat. Spread them a little apart at the bottom so the stool can stand.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a piano
- Draw the keyboard frame lightly first and leave a small gap inside the piano body. Keeping that gap even is the trickiest part.
- For the black keys, make all the U shapes the same height. Count two, then three, so the groups look like a real piano.
- Draw the stool legs slanted, with the feet wider apart than the seat. This makes the stool look steady instead of wobbly.

Try a classic black and white piano with a warm brown stool and a blue music stand. For a creative twist, color the piano body red or green and keep the keys black and white.
Piano fun fact for kids
A modern piano has 88 keys: 52 white ones and 36 black ones. Inside, a small felt hammer hits a string each time you press a key.
