How to Draw Music Notes (Easy Step by Step)
Music notes are a great first drawing because they are mostly ovals and straight lines. A treble clef adds one fun swirl to practice, and the joined notes show how two notes can share a bar. When you finish, you have a little song on paper.

Step 1: Clef line and top loop
Start at the top with a long, skinny loop like a stretched-out leaf. Pull a straight line down from it, then finish at the bottom with a little curl, like a candy cane hook.
Step 2: The clef swirl
Start on the tall line and draw a round swoop that circles out to the left, around the bottom, and back up to the right. Finish with a tiny curl inside the circle.
Step 3: The first note
Off to the right, draw a tilted oval, like a squashed egg lying on its side. Then draw a long straight line going up from its right side.
Step 4: The second note
Draw another tilted oval a little higher up and to the right of the first note. Add a straight line going up from its right side, taller than the first note's line.
Step 5: The little flag
Near the top of the second note's line, draw a small curved flag that swoops down and to the right. Add a short line underneath it so the flag looks like a little triangle.
Step 6: The joined notes
Draw two tilted ovals side by side, with the right one a bit higher. Give each oval a tall line going up, then connect the tops with a slanted line so the notes hold hands.
Step 7: The second bar
Draw one more slanted line between the two tall lines, just under the top bar. Make it run in the same direction so the two bars look like a ladder.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing music notes
- Draw the treble clef's tall line first and keep it light. The swirl is the trickiest part, so let your hand move in one slow, smooth loop.
- Tilt every oval the same way, leaning up to the right. Matching tilts make the notes look like they belong together.
- For the joined notes, draw both ovals and both tall lines first, then connect the tops with a slanted bar. Use a ruler or the edge of a book if your lines wobble.

How to color your music notes drawing
Try black notes on a bright yellow or sky blue page, or give each note its own color like a rainbow. For a twist, fill the empty space around the notes with swirls, stars, and tiny hearts so the music looks like it is floating.
Music notes fun fact for kids
The treble clef is also called the G clef. Its curl circles around the line where the note G sits, and it started out long ago as a fancy letter G.
