Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The planet
Start with a big round circle in the middle of your paper. Take your time and keep the line smooth and curvy.
Step 3: The tilted ring
Draw a long, gently curved line that sweeps across the planet from the lower left up to the right edge. At the left end, let the line stick out past the planet and curl up into a little hook.
Step 4: The ring's far side
On the upper right, start at the edge of the planet and draw a small curve that bulges outward and swoops back down to touch the end of the ring. It makes the ring look like it wraps around the planet.
Step 5: Two round eyes
Draw two small dots for eyes in the middle of the planet, one a little higher than the other. Color them in solid so they look shiny.
Step 6: A happy smile
Below the eyes, draw a small U-shaped curve for a smile. Keep it short and sweet.
Step 7: Sparkle and a dot
Up in the corner of space, draw a little diamond for a sparkling star. Then add a tiny circle next to it for a faraway moon.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Uranus
- Draw the big circle first and take your time. Every other part is placed around it, so a nice round shape helps.
- For the ring, think of a stretched oval tilted to one side. The long line crosses the planet, and the small curve on the upper right finishes the loop.
- Keep the two eyes about the same size, with one a little higher than the other. Put the small smile below and between them.

How to color your Uranus drawing
Try light blue or teal for the planet, with a pale yellow or silver ring and a bright yellow star. For a creative twist, color the background deep purple and add lots of tiny dots for stars.
Uranus fun fact for kids
Uranus is tipped over on its side, so it spins like a ball rolling around the Sun instead of like a spinning top. It also has thin, faint rings, which is why this drawing gives it a ring.
Questions about drawing Uranus
What shapes do I need to draw Uranus?
You need one big circle for the planet, a long curved line for the ring, a small curve to finish the ring, two dots for eyes, and a small curve for the smile. The star is a little diamond, and the moon is a tiny circle.
How do I make my Uranus look cuter?
Fill in the eyes so they look shiny and keep the smile small. Adding a few tiny stars around it makes it feel friendly.
How do I draw the ring so it goes around the planet?
Draw one long curve crossing the planet, then add a small curve on the upper right that bulges out and connects back to the ring. Together they look like one ring wrapping around.
