A loudspeaker is a great first object to draw because it is made almost completely of circles and straight lines. You start with a tall box, fit a big round speaker inside, and add little curved lines to show the sound spreading out. Once you can draw it, you can try changing the size of the box or adding more curves.

Step 1: The speaker box
Draw a tall rectangle with rounded corners. Cut the top left corner with a slanted line, and cut the bottom right corner the same way.
Step 2: The top edge
Start at the left side just under the slanted corner. Draw a straight line across, curve it down at the right side, and go straight down a little way.
Step 3: The big woofer
In the lower middle of the box, draw a large circle. Then draw a second circle inside it, leaving a small, even space all the way around.
Step 4: The center circle
Draw a small circle right in the middle of the big circles, like the bullseye of a target.
Step 5: Small ring and slot
Above the big circles, draw a small ring for the tiny speaker. To its left, draw a short, fat oval lying on its side.
Step 6: Corner dots
Near the bottom corners of the box, draw one small round dot on the left and one on the right. Fill them in.
Step 7: Sound waves on the right
Next to the top right of the box, draw a short curved line that bends like a bracket. Draw a longer curved line just outside it, bending the same way.
Step 8: Sound waves on the left
On the left side of the box, draw a short curved line bending to the left. Add a longer curve just outside it to show the sound spreading out.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a loudspeaker
- The big circles are the trickiest part. Draw the outer circle first, then make the inner one so the gap between them stays about the same all the way around.
- Make the small center circle last of the three circles, right in the middle. It helps all the circles line up like a bullseye.
- Draw the sound waves last and keep them light. Make the inner curve shorter than the outer curve so they look like they are spreading out.

How to color your loudspeaker drawing
Try a black box with a bright blue or red ring around the big circles so the speaker pops off the page. For a creative twist, color each sound wave a different rainbow color, as if the music has color.
Loudspeaker fun fact for kids
A speaker makes sound by moving back and forth very fast. The round cone in the middle pushes the air, and that moving air is what your ears hear as music. If you rest a finger lightly near a loud speaker, you can feel it shake.
Questions about drawing a loudspeaker
What shapes do I need to draw a speaker?
You need a tall rectangle with rounded corners, a few circles of different sizes, and a small oval. The sound waves are just short curved lines.
How do I make my speaker look like it is playing loud music?
Add another curved line outside each sound wave, and make each one a little longer than the last. Draw them on both sides of the box.
How do I draw circles that look round?
Draw slowly and move your whole arm, not just your fingers. If a circle looks a bit wobbly, trace over it a second time to smooth it out.
