Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The coffin outline
Draw a long six-sided shape with a flat top, two slanted shoulders, and sides that slope inward toward the bottom. Close it with a straight line across the bottom.
Step 3: The inner panel
Inside the coffin, draw a smaller copy of the same shape, leaving an even gap all the way around. Give it a flat top, slanted shoulders and a flat bottom.
Step 4: The friendly ghost
Start at the coffin's right edge near the top and draw a tall rounded dome like a hill. Bring the side straight down, then finish with a wavy line back to the coffin, like gentle ocean waves.
Step 5: Ghost face
Add two small round dots for eyes near the top of the ghost. Draw a little curved smile below and between them.
Step 6: The spider web
In the top left corner inside the inner panel, draw a few short lines that start in the corner and fan out like spokes. Then curve two short lines across the spokes to make the web.
Step 7: The little bat
In the middle of the inner panel, draw a small oval body with two pointy ears on top. Add a wide wing on each side, and give the bottom of each wing a bumpy, scalloped edge.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a coffin
- The coffin has six sides. Draw the top and bottom lines first, then connect the corners, so the shape stays even.
- For the inner panel, copy the outer shape and keep the same gap on every side. Look at the gap as you go, so it does not get wide on one side.
- Draw the bat wings last and keep the bumps small. Each wing only needs two or three little scallops along the bottom.

Try a deep purple or dark brown for the coffin, a soft white or pale blue for the ghost, and orange for the bat. For a creative twist, color the spider web silver.
Coffin fun fact for kids
Bats are the only mammals that can truly fly, and a baby bat is called a pup.
