A chimera is a made-up animal that mixes parts from different creatures, and this one is part lion, part snake, and part winged dragon. It is built from friendly shapes: a cloud for the mane, a rounded face, two dots for eyes, and a long wiggly tube for the snake tail.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The fluffy mane
Draw a big, wide cloud shape for the mane. Make a round outline with little wavy bumps all the way around.
Step 3: Face and ears
Inside the mane, draw a wide, rounded face with a flat, curvy bottom. Add two small round ears on top, one on each side, joined by a gently wavy line across the forehead.
Step 4: Eyes and smile
Fill in two round dots for eyes, spaced apart in the middle of the face. Between them and a little lower, draw a tiny curvy smile.
Step 5: The lion body
Under the mane, draw a gently curved line going down on the left. On the right, draw a curve that bulges out into a round hip and then curls in toward the bottom.
Step 6: Feet and front legs
Along the bottom of the body, draw two bumpy curves for the feet. Between them, add two short upright lines to show the gap between the front legs.
Step 7: The snake tail
On the left, draw a long, curvy tube that wiggles out from behind the body. Finish it with a round snake head, then add two tiny dots for eyes.
Step 8: The little wing
On the right side, tucked behind the mane, draw a small wing. Start with a smooth curved top, then add a wavy bottom edge with two or three little feather points.
Step 9: Dragon tail and thigh
Below the wing, draw a small pointed tail shape sticking out from the hip. Then add one curved line on the hip for the back leg.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a chimera
- Draw the mane first as a light oval, then add bumpy edges around it. It is much easier to add bumps to a round shape than to draw a cloud from nothing.
- Keep the face inside the mane with some space all around, so the face does not touch the mane outline.
- For the snake tail, draw one gentle S-curve first, then add the second line beside it so both sides stay the same width.

How to color your chimera drawing
Try golden yellow for the mane, a soft green for the snake tail, and purple or blue for the little wing. For a creative twist, give the snake tail rainbow stripes.
Chimera fun fact for kids
In old Greek stories, the Chimera was a monster with parts of a lion, a goat, and a snake. Today people use the word chimera for any creature made from mixed-up animal parts, so you can invent your own.
Questions about drawing a chimera
What shapes do I need to draw a chimera?
You need a big wavy cloud for the mane, a rounded face, two dots for eyes, and a long curvy tube for the snake tail. The wing and the pointed dragon tail are small and simple.
How do I make my chimera look cuter?
Place the eyes wide apart and keep the smile small. Round, bumpy shapes with no sharp corners make it look friendly.
Can I make up my own chimera?
Yes. Swap the snake tail for a fish tail, or give it bunny ears or a bird wing. A chimera can be any mix of animals you like.
