A mango is a great first fruit to draw because it is mostly one big, soft, rounded shape. Add a bent stem, a pointy leaf, and a tiny smile, and you have a friendly mango with its own personality. You only need a big round shape, a few curved lines, and two dots.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The mango body
Start with one big, plump rounded shape that is a little wider at the bottom than at the top. Draw all the way around and close the line so it makes one smooth loop.
Step 3: Stem and leaf
At the top of the mango, draw a short stem that starts on the outline and curves up and to the right. Then add a pointy leaf shape, like a flat lemon, that starts at the top of the stem and points to the right.
Step 4: The shiny highlight
On the left side, inside the mango, draw one short curved line that follows the edge. It is a little streak of light, so leave a gap between it and the outline.
Step 5: A happy face
Draw two small dots for eyes, with the right one a little lower than the left one. Then add a tiny smile that curves up in the middle, below and between the eyes.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a mango
- Draw the body as a plump rounded shape that leans a little instead of a perfect circle. A slightly lopsided shape looks more like a real mango.
- Start the stem right on the top edge of the body so it looks attached, then draw the leaf from the top of the stem.
- Keep the shiny streak short and curved the same way as the left edge, with a small gap, so it looks like light on the skin.
- Make the two eyes a little uneven and keep the smile small for a playful face.

How to color your mango drawing
Try warm yellow, orange, and a little red on the body, with a green leaf and a brown stem. For a creative twist, color the mango like a sunset with red at the top fading into yellow at the bottom.
Mango fun fact for kids
Mango trees can live for more than a hundred years, and some old trees still grow fruit. Mangoes are native to South Asia, where people have grown them for thousands of years.
