How to Draw a Crane Truck (Easy Step by Step)
A crane truck is fun to draw because it has a tall, slanted arm and a big hook that looks like it is ready to lift something heavy. It is built from simple shapes: a rounded cab, a long flat bed, circles for the wheels, and long lines for the crane. Once you draw the truck body, the crane is just a few straight lines on top.

Step 1: Cab, bed and rear arch
Draw the cab with a rounded top and a slanted front, then draw a long flat line going back from the cab for the truck bed. Finish the back with a short line going down, and add a small upside-down U bump near the bottom of the back.
Step 2: Window and crane base
Inside the cab, draw a small window shaped like a box with one slanted side. Then draw the crane's base on the truck bed behind the cab: a short line going up, a flat line across the top, and a short line coming down on the right side.
Step 3: The crane arm
Start at the crane base and draw two long slanted lines going up to the right, close together. Join them at the top with a rounded point, then draw a curly hook hanging down on the right.
Step 4: Crane braces and pivot
Draw short zigzag lines between the two sides of the crane arm, like the rungs of a ladder. Then add a small bracket shape at the bottom, where the arm meets the base.
Step 5: Wheel arches
Along the bottom of the truck, draw three curved bumps like upside-down U shapes: one at the front and two in the middle. Join the two middle bumps with a flat line between them.
Step 6: The four tires
Draw four big circles under the arches, with two close together at the front and two close together at the back. Make them about the same size so the truck looks steady.
Step 7: Wheel centers
Draw a smaller circle inside each tire, then add a tiny dot in the middle of it. Do all four wheels the same way.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a crane truck
- Draw the crane arm as two long lines that stay about the same distance apart. Lightly mark the top and bottom points first so the lines do not drift.
- Make the four wheels about the same size. Draw the first big circle, then use it as a guide for the other three.
- Draw the wheel arches before the tires, and leave a little space between the arch and the tire so the wheels do not touch the body.

How to color your crane truck drawing
Try a bright yellow or orange truck with dark gray tires, light blue for the window, and a red hook. For a creative twist, draw a small house, a boat, or a big box dangling from the hook.
Crane truck fun fact for kids
Many crane trucks have long arms that can stretch out, called telescoping booms, which slide out of each other like a spyglass. That lets the crane reach much higher than the truck itself.
Questions about drawing a crane truck
What shapes do I need to draw a crane truck?
You need a rounded cab, a long flat bed, a box for the crane base, circles for the wheels, and long straight lines for the crane arm. A curvy hook finishes it off.
How do I make the crane look tall and strong?
Slant the arm up and to the right, and keep its two sides close together. Add zigzag lines between them, because they make it look like it is built to lift.
How do I draw the wheels so they look even?
Draw one circle first, then copy its size for the others. Sketch lightly at first, so you can erase and fix any that come out too big or small.
