How to draw a fighter jet step by step

How to Draw a Fighter Jet · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The long body

Start at the pointy nose on the left and draw a long, slim body. Draw a flat top line going right, and a gently curved bottom line that starts at the nose and stops before the back end, so the right side stays open.

  3. Step 3: The big wing

Draw a big wing shaped like a four-sided slanted triangle in the middle of the body. Draw a flat top line, then a long slanted side down to a rounded bottom corner, and a short side back up.

  4. Step 4: Tail fin and back end

At the right end, draw a tall tilted fin that leans backward, with a smaller fin line right beside it. Then draw a rounded curve down the back of the body to close it up.

  5. Step 5: The glass canopy

Draw a dome like half a circle sitting on top of the body, where the pilot sits. Add one short line down the middle from the top of the dome to the body.

  6. Step 6: The engine opening

Near the back end, draw one curved line going up and down just inside the body. Together with the back edge, it makes a leaf-shaped engine opening.

  7. Step 7: Nose and window

Near the nose, draw a short curved line across the body to mark the nose cone. Then draw a small flat oval for a window in the middle of the body.

  8. Step 8: The wing star

Draw a small star with rounded points on the lower part of the wing. Start at one point, zigzag around the five points, and close the shape.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a fighter jet

  • Draw the body with a light line, and make the nose pointy like a sharp pencil so the jet looks fast.
  • The wing is the trickiest part. Draw the flat top line first, then the long slanted side, then round off the bottom corner.
  • Draw the star slowly and keep it small. Zigzag around its five points and close the shape where you started.

Questions about drawing a fighter jet

What shapes do I need to draw a fighter jet?

You need a long slim shape for the body, a slanted triangle for the wing, a half circle for the canopy and a tall tilted shape for the tail fin. A small oval window and a star finish it off.

How do I make my fighter jet look fast?

Make the nose pointy and keep the body long and slim. Tilting the tail fin backward also makes the jet look like it is zooming.

Can a 6 year old draw this jet?

Yes. Each part is a simple shape drawn one at a time, so kids can follow along and finish in a short session.
