Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head and back
Start low on the left and draw a round curve up and over for the head. Then let the line slope down on the right to make the back.
Step 3: The round belly
Start under the chin on the left and draw a big, plump curve down and around to make the tummy. Bring it up on the right so it nearly meets the end of the back.
Step 4: The long beak
On the left side of the head, draw a long, skinny beak pointing left, like a leaf lying on its side. Add a little curl at the tip.
Step 5: The eye
Draw one small round dot on the head, just above the beak.
Step 6: The wing
Inside the body, draw a big wing shaped like a rounded leaf, pointing toward the tail. Then add one short curved line inside it for a feather.
Step 7: The pointy tail
On the right side, draw a triangle sticking out from the back, with a tiny curl where it meets the body. Draw the bottom edge as a long line that sweeps out to the point.
Step 8: The perch post
Under the bird, draw a wide rectangle for the post. This is what your seagull stands on.
Step 9: Feet and wood marks
Draw two short legs going down from the belly. Finish each with a little pointy foot on top of the post. Add two short lines on the post for wood.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a seagull
- The beak is the trickiest part. Draw it as a long, thin leaf shape first, then add the small curl at the tip.
- Make the belly nice and round. Starting the curve right under the chin helps the head and body line up.
- Draw the feet last and let them touch the top of the post, so the seagull looks like it is really standing there.

Try white or light gray for the body, gray for the wing, and yellow or orange for the beak and feet. For a creative twist, color the sky behind it in sunset pinks and purples, or give the post a stripe of red paint.
Seagull fun fact for kids
Seagulls can drink both fresh water and salty seawater. They have special glands near their eyes that help remove the extra salt.
