Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The bowl
Draw a big rounded U shape for the bowl, like a wide smile. At the top of each side, add a little bumpy curl that bends inward, and leave the middle of the top open.
Step 3: Rim and foot
Draw a gentle curved line across the bowl from one side to the other for the rim. Then add a small flat shape under the bowl for its foot, like a short upside-down trapezoid.
Step 4: The cheesy mound
Join the two bumpy curls at the top with a puffy, bumpy line, like the top of a cloud. This closes the shape of the cheesy mound sitting on the rim.
Step 5: Left noodles
On the left side of the mound, draw three little C-shaped hooks close together. Turn them in slightly different directions.
Step 6: Middle and right noodles
Draw more small hooks across the middle and the right side of the mound. Make some C shapes and some wavy squiggles, in a few different sizes.
Step 7: One more noodle
Fill a gap near the top middle of the mound with one more small C-shaped hook.
Step 8: The fork
Draw a fork sticking up out of the mound on the right. Start with a short handle going up from the food, then add the prongs at the top, joined together by a curved line.
Step 9: Steam squiggles
Above the bowl on the left, draw two tall wavy lines side by side, like squiggly snakes standing up. They show the food is hot.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing macaroni and cheese
- Draw the bowl and rim first so the cheesy mound has a good place to sit.
- Think of each noodle as a small letter C or a little squiggle, and turn them in different directions so they do not all look the same.
- Draw the fork near the end, sticking up out of the mound, so it looks like it is stuck in the food.
