Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The bottom rolls
Draw one long rounded shape for two rolls lying side by side. Pinch it in a little at the top and bottom in the middle, so it looks like two fat sausages touching.
Step 3: The top roll
Draw a shorter rounded rectangle that sits on top, right over the pinch where the two bottom rolls meet. Make the corners nice and round.
Step 4: Folds, stripes and face
Near each end of every roll, draw a curved line to show the folded wrapper, and add a short line where the two bottom rolls touch. Draw three little slanted stripes on each bottom roll. On the top roll, draw two dot eyes and a small smile.
Step 5: The plate
Under the rolls, draw a long, gentle smile-shaped curve. Curl the two ends up a little so the rolls sit in it.
Step 6: The dipping bowl
To the right of the plate, draw a small bowl shaped like the bottom half of a circle. Give the top edge a soft, slightly wavy line.
Step 7: Sauce on the bowl
Draw a short, thick band straight across the top of the bowl for the sauce. Add a small bump at each end of the band.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing spring rolls
- Draw the two bottom rolls the same height, and make the top roll a little shorter so it sits neatly in the middle. Lightly sketch the rounded shapes first, then go over them.
- The curved fold lines at the ends of the rolls are the trickiest part. Make them gentle curves that follow the shape of the end.
- Keep the smiley face small on the top roll. Two dots for eyes and a little curve for a smile are all you need.

Questions about drawing spring rolls

How do I make my spring roll look cuter?
Put a small face on the top roll with the eyes wide apart and a little smile. Round, soft corners also make it look friendlier.
How do I draw the rolls so they stack?
Draw the two bottom rolls first, then place the shorter top roll over the pinch between them. Let its bottom edge rest right on the bottom rolls so it looks like it is sitting there.
