Step 1: The jar
Draw a tall rounded shape for the jar: start at the top left with a little curved shoulder, go down the side, round the bottom corner, and come back up the right side to a matching shoulder. Leave the top open for the lid.
Step 2: The cloth lid
On top of the jar, draw a wide, flat dome like a squished hill. Close it underneath with a wavy line, like a frilly cloth cover.
Step 3: Bow, string and seeds
Draw a gently curving line across the neck of the jar for the string. In the middle add two little loops for the bow with two short tails hanging down. Then, lower in the middle of the jar, draw a small arch with three tiny dots under it.
Step 4: The label
Around the small arch and dots, draw a big square with very round corners. This is the label.
Step 5: The strawberry
Inside the label, draw a heart shape with a flat top and a point at the bottom, so the arch and dots sit inside it like a strawberry's leafy crown and seeds.
Step 6: The spoon handle
Next to the jar, draw a long, skinny rounded rectangle slanting up to the right. It is the handle of a spoon.
Step 7: The spoon bowl
At the bottom end of the handle, draw a big tilted oval for the bowl of the spoon. Draw a smaller oval inside it.
Step 8: The jam drip
Under the bottom of the spoon bowl, draw a little teardrop shape so a drop of jam is falling.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a jar of jam
- Draw the jar first and leave the top open, so the lid has a place to sit.
- For the wavy edge of the lid, make small, soft bumps in a row, like a gentle wave. Do not worry if they are not the same size.
- The bow is the trickiest part. Draw two loops like bunny ears, then add two short tails hanging down.
- Draw the small arch and three dots first, then wrap the label and the heart around them.

How to color your jar of jam drawing
Color the strawberry red with yellow seeds, the lid red and white, and the jar a light pink or purple. For a creative twist, give the jar a new flavor like blueberry or peach and change the label to match.
Jar of jam fun fact for kids
The little seeds on the outside of a strawberry are not really seeds. Each one is a tiny fruit with a seed inside, and a single strawberry has about 200 of them.
Questions about drawing a jar of jam
What shapes do I need to draw a jar of jam?
You need a rounded shape for the jar, a flat dome for the lid, a square with round corners for the label, a heart for the strawberry and ovals for the spoon. A few small loops make the bow.
How do I make the lid look like cloth?
Draw the bottom edge of the lid as a wavy line instead of a straight one. Then draw a string with a bow across the neck of the jar, and it looks like a cloth cover tied on.
How do I make my jam jar look cuter?
Make the corners of the jar and label extra round and add a small strawberry on the label. A drop of jam falling from the spoon also makes it look yummy.
