How to Draw a Kid with a Sandcastle (Easy Step by Step)
A kid in a floppy sun hat standing next to a sandcastle is a perfect beach-day drawing. It is built from simple shapes: a big round head, a hat made from an oval and a dome, a rounded dress, and tall towers for the castle. Each part is easy by itself, so you can build the whole scene one step at a time.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Sides of the head
Draw two curved lines that make the left and right sides of a big round head, like a balloon. Leave the top open, because the hat will cover it, and leave the bottom open too.
Step 3: The sun hat
Draw a flat oval across the top of the head for the wide brim. Add a dome on top like half a circle that sits on the brim.
Step 4: The dress body
Under the head, draw a short line across for the top of the dress. Then draw a curved line down the right side that ends in a tiny hook, and a gently curved line along the bottom.
Step 5: Dress and arm lines
Draw a curved line down the left side of the dress. Then draw another curved line down the right side, next to the hook, to make the arm.
Step 6: Two round shoes
Under the dress, draw two flat ovals side by side so they just touch in the middle. They look like a sideways number eight.
Step 7: The sand bucket
Next to the left side of the body, draw a small square bracket shape that opens to the right, like a sideways letter C with square corners. This is the side of the bucket.
Step 8: Small castle tower
On the right, draw a tall narrow tower with a little bump on top. Add a small rounded door at the bottom, then a short wall beside it with two tiny bumps on top.
Step 9: The tall tower
Draw a very tall rectangle next to the short wall. Give it a small raised step at the top, like a crown of sand.
Step 10: Flag and ground
Draw a straight pole going up from the top of the tall tower and add a little triangle flag at the top. Then draw one long line along the bottom of the castle for the sand.
Step 11: Face and small details
Add two dots for eyes and a curved smile under them. Then draw two short strap lines on the dress, two short legs above the shoes, a small circle for each hand, and the bucket handle on the left.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with a sandcastle
- Draw the two sides of the head lightly first, and leave the top open. The hat then sits over the gap and hides any wobbles.
- The castle towers are the trickiest part. Take your time with the tall tower, and use a ruler edge or the side of a book if you want straight sides.
- Make the two shoes touch in the middle, like a sideways number eight. If they float far apart, the kid will look wobbly.

How to color your kid with a sandcastle drawing
Try a yellow hat, a bright dress, and sandy tan for the castle, with a red flag on top. For a creative twist, color the sky behind the scene blue and add waves, or make the bucket sparkly.
Kid with a sandcastle fun fact for kids
Sandcastles hold together because of water. Dry sand falls apart, but damp sand sticks because tiny drops of water pull the grains together, which is why builders pack wet sand from near the waves.
Questions about drawing a kid with a sandcastle
What shapes do I need to draw a kid with a sandcastle?
You need a big round head, an oval and a dome for the hat, a rounded box for the dress, two ovals for the shoes, and tall rectangles for the castle towers. A small triangle makes the flag.
How do I make the sandcastle look more real?
Add a little bump on top of each tower and a small arched door at the bottom of the short tower. A long line along the bottom makes the sand the castle stands on.
How do I make my kid drawing look cuter?
Keep the head big and the body small, and put the eyes wide apart with a happy smile. A big floppy hat adds extra charm.
