Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Planet and top stripe
Draw a big circle in the middle of your paper, making the line smooth and round. Near the top, add a gently wavy line that starts on the left side of the circle and ends on the right side.
Step 3: The middle stripe
Draw another gently wavy line across the middle of the planet, from the left edge of the circle to the right edge. Let it wiggle just a little.
Step 4: The bottom stripe
Near the bottom of the planet, draw one short wavy line inside the circle. Let both ends touch the edge of the circle.
Step 5: The big storm spot
In the lower right part of the planet, draw a wide oval lying on its side. This is the famous giant storm.
Step 6: A happy face
Draw two small round dots for eyes in the top half of the planet. Between them, a little lower down, draw a tiny curved smile.
Step 7: Two little stars
Outside the planet on the upper right, draw two small star shapes with rounded corners, one a little bigger than the other. Draw a tiny five-sided shape inside each one.
Step 8: The little moon
Below the stars, near the lower right corner of your paper, draw a small circle for a moon. Add a tiny dot inside it.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Jupiter
- Draw the big circle slowly and smoothly. If it comes out a little wobbly, that is fine, because planets look friendly with a hand-drawn line.
- Let each wavy stripe start and stop right on the edge of the circle so the bands look like they wrap around the planet.
- Keep the stars small and simple. Draw a rounded star shape first, then add a tiny shape inside it.

How to color your Jupiter drawing
Try warm oranges, tan and cream for the bands between the stripes, with a reddish-brown oval for the storm. For a creative twist, color the sky dark blue and add sparkly dots with a white crayon.
Jupiter fun fact for kids
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system, and its Great Red Spot is a giant storm that scientists have watched for more than 150 years.
Questions about drawing Jupiter
What shapes do I need to draw Jupiter?
You need one big circle for the planet, a few wavy lines for the stripes, an oval for the storm spot, and small stars and a small circle for the extras.
How do I make my Jupiter look cuter?
Give it a face with two round dot eyes and a small curved smile. Keep the eyes wide apart and the smile small for the sweetest look.
How do I draw the stripes so they look even?
Draw each stripe in one smooth motion from one side of the circle to the other. A gentle wave looks better than a straight line, and it does not need to be perfect.
