Step 1: Guide shapes

Start at the left side and draw a big rounded hill shape, like half of a circle. Then keep going down the sides and draw a wide flat bottom with rounded corners, so the dome and the cuff make one big outline.
Step 3: Cuff line
Draw one straight line across the hat from the left side to the right side, a little above the bottom part. This line splits the dome from the folded cuff.
Step 4: Two shine marks
Above the top of the dome, draw two short curved lines, one on the left and one a little lower on the right. They are tiny curves, like parentheses, and they will sit inside the pom-pom.
Step 5: The pom-pom
Draw a circle around the two short curves, with its bottom tucked into the top of the dome. Start on the dome, curve up and around over the marks, and come back down to the dome on the other side.
Step 6: Zigzag band
Across the dome, above the cuff line, draw a zigzag line with pointy peaks and valleys. Start at the left edge of the dome and end at the right edge.
Step 7: Cuff stripes
Inside the cuff, draw straight up and down lines, spaced evenly like the ribbing on a knitted cuff. Try to make them all about the same length.
