Step 1: Sides of the head
Draw two curved lines, one on the left and one on the right, that bulge outward like the sides of a big round ball. Leave the top and the bottom open for now.
Step 2: The crown
Across the open top of the head, draw a crown with a flat band along the bottom and a zigzag of three points above it. The middle point is the tallest.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
Draw two small round dots for eyes, spaced wide apart. Between and below them, draw a little curved smile.
Step 4: Collar and left side
Under the head, draw a gently curved line across, like a bowl, for the collar. Then draw a short curve from its left end going down to start the body.
Step 5: Robe and sleeves
Draw a robe that gets wider toward the bottom, with a straight line along the hem. Add a long, rounded sleeve on each side, plus a few little curved lines for folds.
Step 6: The necklace
Draw a gentle, curved line across the chest from one sleeve to the other. Hang a tiny loop from the middle, like a pendant.
Step 7: The little bundle
In the middle of the robe, draw a small rounded top. Under it, draw a few flat, stacked layers, like a short pile of books.
Step 8: A small hand
On the left side of the bundle, draw a small round blob for a hand holding on.
Step 9: Little feet
Under the hem of the robe, draw two small U-shapes side by side for the feet.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a wise man
- Start the head with just the two side curves and leave the top open. The crown will close it, and it is easier to fit the crown on than to squeeze the head under it.
- The three crown points are the trickiest part. Draw the flat band first, then the zigzag with straight lines, and make the middle point the tallest.
- Keep the bundle in the middle of the robe small. Draw the rounded top first, then the flat layers under it, with room on the sides for the hand.

Wise man fun fact for kids
The word "sage" for a wise person comes from the Latin word "sapere", which means "to be wise" or "to have good taste."
Questions about drawing a wise man
What shapes do I need to draw a wise man?
You need two curved lines for the round head, a zigzag for the crown, and a bowl-shaped curve for the collar. A wide robe, a few flat layers for the bundle, and small U-shapes for the feet finish him.
How do I make my wise man look friendlier?
Make the smile a little wider and put the eyes far apart. Round dot eyes and a curved smile make the face look soft and kind.
How do I draw a crown that sits straight?
Draw the flat band first so it is level, then add the zigzag with three points above it. Make the middle point the tallest and give the side points about the same height.
