How to draw a Persian cat step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The fluffy head

Start with a big round cloud shape for the head. Draw the outline with lots of little bumps, like a puffy cotton ball, and leave a small gap at the bottom.

  3. Step 3: Pointy ears

Add a small curved ear on each top corner of the head. Start each one on the fluffy outline, curve up to a point, and come back down to the head.

  4. Step 4: The round body

Under the head, draw a curved line for the top of the body, starting just below the chin bumps. Then add a small wavy line near the bottom for the fluffy bottom of the body.

  5. Step 5: Front legs

Draw a tall oval on each side of the body, tilted a little like a leaning bean. The tops tuck up under the head.

  6. Step 6: Two round paws

At the bottom, draw a wide flat oval on the left and another on the right. They sit just under the legs and make the cat look like it is sitting.

  7. Step 7: The big fluffy tail

Next to the body on the right, draw a big puff of a tail. Use the same bumpy line you used for the head so it matches.

  8. Step 8: Eyes and whiskers

Put two small round dots for eyes in the middle of the face, with space between them. Then draw two short whiskers on each cheek, one pair on the left and one pair on the right.

  9. Step 9: Nose and smile

Between the eyes and a little lower, draw a tiny nose. Add a short line down from it and a small curve on each side to make a happy smile.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Persian cat

  • For the fluffy head and tail, draw lots of small curvy bumps instead of one long line. Lift your pencil often if it helps.
  • Draw the head first and leave a little gap below it, so the body has room to sit under the chin.
  • Draw the two leg ovals and the two paw ovals at the same size on both sides so your cat looks balanced.

Persian cat fun fact for kids

Persian cats have very long, thick fur, so owners often brush them every day to keep it from tangling.
