How to Draw Popcorn (Easy Step by Step)
Popcorn is a happy snack, and this one has a smiling face. It is built from a few simple shapes: a bumpy cloud on top, a thin band, and a bucket that is a little narrower at the bottom than at the top. Once you know those shapes, you can draw it in about ten minutes.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Bumpy popcorn cloud
Start low on the left and draw a bumpy cloud shape, bumping up and over several times across the top. End low on the right, and leave the bottom of the cloud open.
Step 3: The bucket rim
Across the bottom of the cloud, draw a long, thin rectangle with rounded corners. It is a bit wider than the cloud and makes a band.
Step 4: The bucket
From each end of the band, draw a line sloping down and slightly inward. Then join them with a flat line along the bottom, with softly rounded corners.
Step 5: The bucket stripes
Draw two long lines from the band down to the bottom of the bucket. Tilt them slightly inward like the sides, so the bucket has a narrow section on each side and a wide one in the middle.
Step 6: The round eyes
In the wide middle section, draw two round dots side by side, at the same height. Color them in so they are solid.
Step 7: The smile
Between the eyes and a little below them, draw a small curved smile, like a tiny bowl.
Step 8: Puff marks
Inside the cloud, draw a few short curved lines to show the bumps on the popcorn. Put one near the middle, and spread the others out on the left and right.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing popcorn
- Draw the cloud with big, round bumps and let them be uneven. Real popcorn is lumpy, so a wobbly bump looks right.
- Make the bucket lines lean in toward the bottom, so the bucket is a little narrower at the bottom than at the top.
- Place the face in the wide middle section and keep the eyes the same size and height so the smile looks even.

How to color your popcorn drawing
Color the popcorn pale yellow and the bucket in red and white stripes, like a movie theater. You can use the three bucket sections for the stripes: red on the sides and white in the middle.
Popcorn fun fact for kids
Popcorn pops because each kernel has a tiny bit of water inside. When it gets hot, the water turns to steam, and the kernel bursts open.
